About Drupal Consent API

Drupal modules listen for a consent signal before they load third party scripts and embeds. Make CookieChimp broadcast that signal so COOKiES (cookiesjsr) compatible modules and EU Cookie Compliance keep working while CookieChimp is your consent manager.

Detailed overview

The Drupal Consent API integration connects CookieChimp to the consent signals that Drupal modules already listen for, so the rest of your Drupal site keeps respecting the choices visitors make in your CookieChimp banner. Every time a visitor gives or changes consent, CookieChimp broadcasts the state to the COOKiES (cookiesjsr) consent event that consent-aware contributed modules and custom theme code subscribe to, and passes the accepted categories to the EU Cookie Compliance JavaScript API when that module is installed. Modules that block scripts, iframes, videos and social embeds until consent is given can then unblock them at the right moment, without you writing bespoke glue code for each one. Your CookieChimp categories are mapped onto the default COOKiES service groups (functional, performance, tracking, marketing, social and video) and are also sent under their own names, so custom groups and services named after your categories work too. The result is one consent decision, enforced consistently across your banner, your modules and your embeds, keeping GDPR, CCPA and other privacy regulations covered on Drupal.
